2021 Virtual Emswiller Interprofessional Symposium
Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Center for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Care
The Ninth Annual Jewell and Carl F. Emswiller Interprofessional Symposium: Interprofessional Education and Practice in Challenging Times will occur as a live, synchronous half-day virtual event on Saturday, March 20, 2021, beginning mid-morning (EST), exact time TBD.
We welcome submissions focused on interprofessional education at any level or interprofessional collaborative practice in any setting. Submissions should describe either (a) an innovation that has been implemented and demonstrates evidence of effectiveness, or (b) a research/scholarly project that has been completed. Work previously presented at other meetings is welcome.
Rather than typical oral presentations and posters, we are planning interactive breakout sessions centered around submissions with common themes and moderated/facilitated by experts. Our goal is to enable presenters to briefly describe their research or innovation, allow other participants to ask questions, and stimulate conversation around important issues in the field of interprofessional education and practice. Specific presentation formats will be determined by the planning committee following the abstract review process and conveyed to presenters at the time of acceptance.
Your abstract must provide the important details that you want to convey to symposium participants. Tables, figures, and images are not permitted in the abstract. We will also not allow pre-recorded content. Complete abstracts and contact information for lead presenters/authors will be available to all registered symposium participants, and we will encourage networking with presenters following the symposium.
All abstract submissions will undergo peer review. Abstracts must be submitted electronically by the stated deadline and include the information below. We suggest creating your abstract in a word processing document and pasting it into the submission form.
- Presentation Title
- Synopsis/Brief Description (< 30 words)
- Complete Abstract (< 600 words) using the following headings (select the terminology for each section that is most appropriate to your submission):

Submission Deadline: Friday, January 8, 2021 (11:59 PM ET)
