Call for Proposals for NECA’s 2019 Annual Convention | September 14-17 | Las Vegas, NV

National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA)

Each year the NECA Annual Convention provides members with the tools needed to keep their companies on top with cutting-edge educational programs. We are seeking proposals on a wide-range of topics in the electrical contracting industry by February 20, 2019. now extended until February 27, 2019.

Topics and content should be appropriate for the duration of the presentation and NECA is looking for a mix of introductions to broad topics and in-depth discussions with a narrow focus. All presentations should focus on key issues in the industry, engage participants, feature audio visual elements, and provide participants with a measurable takeaway from the program. Participants should walk away from each course with a new skill or knowledge that they can use to move their company forward. Sessions that are solely designed to queue up a product, service, or another educational course will not be permitted.

Format and Presentation Types
To engage a large number of participants at varying levels of their career, there are different formats to our educational session at the 2019 NECA Annual Convention and Trade Show. You must select only one presentation type for each submission.

Convention Education Sessions
Focusing on hot topics and key issues in the electrical construction industry, these presentations will cover a broad range of topics from communications to labor relations to safety. All presentations will be held within a two-hour block on the mornings of September 15-17 and will either be presented as a 50-minute presentation that is immediately repeated or as a one-time 110-minute presentation.

New for 2019: We'll be expanding our Convention Education program onto the NECA Show floorA special run of Leadership Workshops, for individuals at all levels of the electrical construction industry, will be held every day during Show hours. 

Technical Workshops
Providing the latest technologies and service enhancements, exhibitors at the NECA Show are eligible to present workshops on the Show floor. With thousands of potential attendees, these workshops help attendees grow their businesses, improve productivity and innovate for tomorrow. All presentations will be held during Show hours on September 15-17 and will be 50-minute presentations. 

New for 2019: We'll be adding workshops focusing on Technology Systems Integration on the Show floor! Buildings now require more infrastructure solutions and fully-integrated platforms to maximize efficiency and this exciting new series will help contractors get into and grow their business in this market. We will consider both presentations and hands-on demonstrations.

Call for Presentation Submission Criteria
All submissions must include:

  • A description of the proposed presentation.
  • The proposed duration.
  • Clear, concise learning objectives that are measurable and realistic in length for the session. These statements must reflect what the attendees will achieve through their participation.
  • Name, contact information, and a short biography for each speaker.
  • Any AV or setup requirements for the session.

Expectations and Compensation

  • Presenters must meet all deadlines, including those for submitting presentation materials, AV requirements, and booking travel.
  • The NECA Convention PowerPoint template and branding must be used.
  • Convention presenters must provide NECA with an editable version of their presentation and any handouts in advance of the Convention for approval.
  • PDFs of all materials will be posted to the NECA Convention website for attendee’s use, no hard copy handouts will be provided.
  • Sessions may be recorded and provided to members or vended at a later date.
  • Convention Education and Leadership Workshop Presenters will be provided one round-trip coach airfare from their local airport to Las Vegas, NV, one night’s hotel stay, and will receive access to the NECA Show and lunch on the show floor on the day of their presentation. No additional compensation will be provided.
  • Technical Workshop and Technology Systems Integration Session speakers will be provided no reimbursement for travel or honorarium. In the event the speaker is not employeed by the exhibiting company, access to the NECA Show will be provided. 
  • Presenters must provide their own laptop computer for use during their presentation.

April 17, 2019 - Speakers notified of selection
June 20, 2019 - Presentations due for review and approval
September 14-17, 2019 - NECA Convention in Las Vegas
