Holistic Nursing: What the World Needs Now

Proposals relevant to holistic nursing are requested in the broad categories of practice, research, education, praxis, personal & professional development, aesthetics, nurse coaching, and advanced practice. Submissions are anticipated to reflect the conference purpose & theme.

Purpose:

The purpose is for holistic nurses to envision how through interconnectedness, self-awareness, engagement, and a sense of belonging we can champion and lead in solving the current and future health and wellbeing needs of humankind and our planet. Together in a sacred space, we will recognize we are nothing without one another, we flourish together sharing a lived experience, and celebrating our passions for the principles of holism and AHNA core values.

Theme

Envisioning Holistic Consciousness: What the World Needs Now

In a time of great challenge for populations and the planet, holistic nurses can be of service, professionally and personally, in promoting strategies and interventions for achieving optimal health and well-being. It is not necessary to be a first-hand witness to painful situations such as domestic violence, elder abuse/mistreatment, or human trafficking; we can utilize our holistic theories and knowledge in transitioning the person through difficult times.
This can be accomplished through nurse coaching, utilizing our senses, therapeutic presence, person-to-person energy transformation, mindfulness, as well as many other topics that will be presented at the conference. You will reignite your passion and purpose in providing holistic trauma-informed care to all peoples across the lifespan.

.A wide range of topics are expected to be shared through educational presentations that may be accomplished in one or more of the following ways:

  • Experiential & “How To” – Provide new skills and hands-on learning experiences that learners may take back to their practice and daily lives for immediate application.
  • Successes – Share how you have successfully built on earlier foundations and incorporated lessons from history into your current practice so that learners may benefit from your experiences in forging new paths in holistic nursing.
  • Focused-Dialogues – Facilitate dynamic group discussions and share how the history of nursing as a discipline and holistic nursing as a specialty practice informs contemporary holistic nursing practice. How can we, as holistic nurses, integrate the experiences of our early leaders into current practice. Together, explore the importance of remembering the past...and creating ways to take purposeful, conscious, intentional action for holistic nursing and humanity.
