2024 SACAC Annual Conference - Call for Session Proposals

SACAC

Thank you for your interest in submitting a proposal for the SACAC 2024 Annual Conference!

2024 Theme: Forward Together!

March 24-26, 2024 - Raleigh Convention Center, Raleigh, North Carolina

Submissions must be completed by Friday, October 6th. Notifications as to session status will be made by mid-November.

In the spring of 2022, the SACAC Board of Directors adopted strategic plan for 2022-2027. Proposed sessions tying to the conference theme of Forward Together! as well as the strategic goals and objectives of the 2022-2027 strategic plan will be given preference.

For each proposal submitted, we ask for: title, session description, learning objectivesaudience, and topics covered.*

Here are some topics that SACAC members have suggested - use them for inspiration, but please feel free to be creative:

national trends and external influences in admission; leadership development and cultural fluency; DEI trends and initiatives in higher education; supporting underserved students; career and staff development; mental health and wellness within college admission counseling; college admission requirements, policies, procedures; emerging topics in post-secondary admission, secondary counseling and students; technology in college admissions

Additionally, consider the constituencies usually in attendance and their professional growth needs: public/charter/private high school counselors & district adminstrators; two & four-year, first-time & transfer college admission & financial aid officials; community-based organization officials; higher education & independent consultants; DEI practitioners;  non-profit educational organizational leaders, to name just a few!

We will need the following information for each presenter: degree(s) received; subject area; name of the degree-awarding institution; certifications/professional affiliations; contact information*

*This information is required to obtain Continuing Education certificates for attendees through the National Board for Certified Counselors. Please note that the professional credential information for ALL presenters must be complete before a session proposal can be submitted.*

Please note, once submitted, a proposal may not be edited. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Sean Kennedy, SACAC President-Elect, at presidentelect@sacac.org.
