ELUNA 2019 Annual Meeting: Data All Around Us

ELUNA - Ex Libris Users of North America

The current "discovery" challenge for libraries is the struggle to harness all of the data available to them.  Lorcan Dempsey summarized this in a 2012 article, “previously, information was scarce and attention abundant, but now it is the other way around.” Changes in the library environment magnify this struggle of harnessing data. For example, the advent of institutional applications such as Esploro and CampusM, which fall outside the standard library programs, integrates the library more fully into the campus-wide environment than ever before. Additionally, the arrival of artificial intelligence, as seen with AI integration in Alma, may greatly impact libraries and their services to patrons.

ELUNA 2019 will convene at the Hilton Atlanta in downtown Atlanta, GA on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 – Friday, May 3, 2019. In addition to presentations about how your institution has used Ex Libris products, we welcome our user community to join us in Atlanta and demonstrate their libraries' responses to these new influences on library services via Ex Libris products and integration with third-party applications to harness the data all around us.

The ELUNA 2019 Program Committee is now accepting session proposals on any Ex Libris product or on matters of general or strategic interest to Ex Libris customers. We encourage our entire user community, including our newer members, to submit proposals for presentations. Your proposal does not have to be super polished as accepted proposals will have the opportunity for revision prior to finalizing the online and printed program. As you consider submitting a proposal, please be advised of the following:

  • All presentation sessions will be 45 minutes long with the exception of plenaries -- a typical breakout session is 30-35 minutes of presentation and 10-15 minutes for questions and follow-up commentary
  • Sessions may be made by either an individual or a group. It is strongly preferred that all co-presenters be included in the proposal at time of submission.
  • Co-authors in your proposal may be co-presenters; however, please do not list them as a speaker if they do not plan on attending. Co-author credits may be on the slides and/or ELUNA document repository.
  • Panel session proposals are welcome for consideration; however, please be sure to indicate it is a panel in the proposal form

Every attempt is made to distribute topics among breakout slots. Questions related to scheduling breakout sessions should be sent to Shay Beezley, Program Committee Chair,, at time of submission of proposals.

The ELUNA 2019 Program Committee will send proposal notifications in early January 2019. Please consider participating in this great opportunity for Ex Libris customer collaboration and continuing education!

This call is no longer accepting submissions.
