Innovation by the Bay - LEADing California's Health Information Professionals to Ignite Better Health Outcomes

CHIA advances health information at CHIACON, the California Health Information Association Convention & Exhibit. This premier annual gathering spotlights emerging technologies, real-world best practices, and cutting-edge products. During three impactful days, attendees engage with a inspiring leaders,  presenters, industry partners, and health information professionals coming together for innovative education and meaningful connections through LEAD – leadership, education, advocacy and discovery.

CHIACON26 returns to Northern California June 7-10, 2026, at the beautiful Hyatt Regency South San Francisco Airport. Join us as we Ignite, Innovate and LEAD by the bay with bold ideas, transformative leadership, and a shared commitment to enhanced data quality and integrity. CHIA invites its professional colleagues to answer the Call for Proposals by submitting engaging, relevant, and forward-thinking presentations supporting our vision LEADing California’s Health Information Professionals to Ignite Better Health Outcomes.

The CHIA Convention Committee reviews all submissions and considers any content that includes best practices, lessons learned, case studies, and innovative actionable ideas that address today's challenges and offer leadership solutions. The CHIACON agenda is designed to engage every HI professional in stimulating and exciting programs that encourage professional growth and meaningful connections.  

Topics have included: Emerging Technology (Artificial Intelligence (AI) and beyond), Innovation in Health Information, Data Analytics, Data Integrity, Revenue Cycle Integrity, Clinical Coding, Data Quality, Clinical Documentation Improvement, Privacy, Compliance, Security, Leadership best practices, Behavioral Health, AI/Information Governance, EHR/HIE LEADing practices, and more. 

Keynote and General Sessions

• Inspiring, broad-reaching topics designed to motivate and advance California's health information community.
• Audience range: 200 - 500 participants.
• Presentation time: 60 - 75 minutes.

Learning Tracks

• Focused sessions on specialized topics or practical applications, allowing attendees to tailor their learning experience.
• Audience range: 75 - 100 participants.
• Presentation time: 50 minutes.

How to Submit a Proposal - due Friday, October 10, 2025

1. Login or create a ProposalSpace account if you don't already have one. Each presenter is required to have an account. 
   • For first-time users, please take the time to complete the profile information. This will save time and steps later.
   • From the Dashboard, select Proposals: Start a new proposal and search for CHIACON25 Call for Proposals.
2. Complete the form. Save the form as a draft and return it to edit until submission.
   • Individuals can submit up to four proposals.
   • A maximum of two (2) proposals will be selected.
