Chain Reaction Innovations (CRI)

CRI’s call for applications to Cohort 9 encourages innovations in clean and renewable energy that can leverage the expertise and tools at Argonne National Laboratory. Applications are judged based on the fit with Argonne’s resources and expertise, technology potential, and innovator merit. Technology areas that are responsive to this call include but are not limited to: 

  • Industrial decarbonization​
  • Lowering building carbon and energy footprints​
  • Solar energy​
  • Offshore, land-based and distributed wind energy​
  • Supply chains supporting wind energy​
  • Social and environmental impacts of wind energy​
  • Hydrogen and fuel cell technologies​
  • Quantum computing​
  • Energy storage – electric grid​
  • Innovative grid sensing and data analytics technologies​
  • Circularity (Re-X pathways; circular economy)​
  • Food, water, energy nexus​
  • Carbon dioxide removal (CDR)​
  • Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS)​
  • Concepts that integrate or leverage AI and machine learning as tools for innovation
  • Other as determined by the DOE
