Strategies for Fostering Authentic Metacognitive Narratives in ESL/EFL Writing Portfolios

Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10:30 AM–11:15 AM EDT
8 Middlesex W
Abstract

Metacognition and self-reflection are essential elements of academic writing instruction, especially in the context of writing portfolios. Too often, learners' self-assessments follow predictable, superficial arcs, unrelated to their true strengths and needs. Learn strategies for moving learners toward deeper reflective thinking to maximize the power of metacognition in the classroom.
