Session Description

Emerging trends in Higher Education includes crisis management of producing results to solve problems. Leadership faces an ethical crisis that stops our work, decreases bottom line decision-making and wipes out hope. The crisis is a lack of trust. Trust changes everything! Low trust causes friction, hidden agendas, interpersonal conflict, interdepartmental rivalries, win-lose thinking and defensive communication. All of these reduce trust. The lack of trust is created by our behavior and taking the exponential leap of faith that makes all the difference in restoring it. Impacting ethics is one of the hot topics today as it is fundamentally important. The hope for the future lies with trust as the root of ethical decision making, communication and the most important is working relationship to produce in the workplace. Brief Bio

John E. Roland, PhD., Associate Professor, Springfield College, School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Wilmington Delaware Campus. John is the coordinator of the Masters in Mental Health Counseling Program at the Wilmington Delaware Campus. John is a mental health advocate connecting governmental and religious and spiritual organization with mental health agencies. He also works with the Military Children Coalition of Delaware.

Judith A. Stang, DPA., Assistant Dean, Springfield College, School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Wilmington Delaware Campus. Judith is the past president, Mid-Atlantic Region Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE). She is also a member of the Wilmington Rotary Club and Board member of the Pennsylvania Prison Society.
