2020 Digital Conference and Developers Day

September 14–17, 2020

All events will be held online. It is worth noting that all times in the program are quoted in British Summer Time (BST ; = UTC+1).

You can register here. As we are running multiple streams, we have had to break down the registration process to a day-by-day and session-by-session registration process.

Can we fix it? Yes, we can! Fixing user record notes in Alma

Conference or Developers' Day

Developers' Day (30 min session)

Session Abstract

Alma notes in user records are free-form text. Did you migrate from another system and save all the user notes from your migration and now you want to clean these up? Do your staff and student workers always use the same format and vocabulary for user notes and always spell everything correctly? Do user notes live in your user records forever? It is difficult to remove or modify user notes in bulk once they exist in a user record, as these cannot be updated with regular Alma jobs. The presenter will explain the characteristics of notes in Alma user records, working with Alma APIs on user notes, the XML/JSON format of user notes, will cover a few different cleanup projects undertaken using Alma Analytics and Python, and will demonstrate tools for making your own Alma user note fixes.
