T10: Measuring Outcomes and Demonstrating Impact with Project Outcome

Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM–12:15 PM EDT add to calendar
Fraser Room
Session Description

Many public libraries are seeking outcome- based performance measures. To meet the evolving needs of our patrons, and demonstrate value to our funders, it is critical for libraries to move beyond attendance counts and anecdotes. Measuring outcomes helps libraries to answer the question “what good did we do?” and share the impact of their programs and services.

As part of an InterLINK outcome-based evaluation project, Surrey Libraries and Vancouver Public Library piloted the use of PLA’s performance measurement program, Project Outcome. Join Julie Balenzano (SL) and Patricia Chong (VPL) as they share their experiences in applying outcomes-based evaluation with this FREE tool. With solid successes and important learnings under their belts, they are now rolling out the use of Project Outcome across their organizations.

In this session, you’ll learn about:
• the results and key insights gained from our pilot programs
• the benefits and challenges of using outcomes-based evaluation
• important steps to take in preparing your library to use Project Outcome
